Matthew Kon (b. 1995) is an artist based in Toronto, Canada.

Working with various media, including oil paint, charcoal, graphite and various forms of ink, Matthew draws a lot of inspiration from figurative art, exploring themes and emotions relating to heritage, family, identity and solitude.

Constantly exploring the subtle, often unspoken emotions that exist beneath the surface of dialogue or interactions between characters, he uses a natural, quiet, yet direct observational style.

Recently calling this practice, the Frequencies of Freedom, this refers to how often he finds himself committed to seeing a single line, completely free to explore where it wants to be. Ranging from obsessive lines that need to be precise and in control, to ones that are free to make mistakes. All collectively exploring different thoughts and emotions, connecting him to his life and world views.
